When to Seek Legal Advice for Car Insurance Claims

It's safe to say that Not everyone is fully knowledgeable when it comes to car insurance - even more so in making claims. While insurance companies and agents are available to answer the questions that one might have with regard to car insurance, one can still choose to seek legal advice to get an impartial opinion on the issue at hand. One should seek legal help when it appears that he or she is being short changed or treated unfairly.

When a car is involved in an accident or is the subject of a theft or vandalism, an insurance claim has to be made. A dispute often arises when there are questions with regard to insurance technicalities, compliance to the terms and conditions of the policy, and extent of the damage and expenses to be covered as perceived by the insurance company versus that of the policyholder. The same is true when the parties seek compensation medical expenses, for pain and suffering, and loss of income as a result of the accident.

Regardless of who is at fault or a what person's role is in an accident, any injured person may claim for compensation. The injured person may be the driver, a passenger, or a pedestrian. And should an insurance company refuse to shoulder medical, rehabilitation, caregiver, or housekeeping expenses for the injured parties, legal advice should be sought. If the injured party is not responsible for the accident, he or she may decide to sue the responsible party for compensation. Pain and suffering may both be physical and psychological, and such injury may affect the injured party's earning capability and use to society, thus necessitating a more protracted course of legal action.

Legal advice should be sought only when necessary and serious consequences are seen. Otherwise, it is best if a quick settlement can be attained.
